She has trained extensively in primary eye care, pediatric eye care, contact lens management including multifocal/bifocal contacts, and ocular disease diagnosis and treatment. She has managed pre-and post-operative care for cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration in a variety of optometric settings including the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Fort Defiance Indian Health Services Hospital, the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, and private practices in both Florida, Pennsylvania, and California. She is the recipient of the VSP Private Practice Award, the Excellence in Low Vision Award, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Dean's Award.
